Arch was born in Hattiesburg, MS, in 1946. He attended High School at a country school outside of town and went to college at University of Southern Miss, graduating in 1968. On graduation from college he was commissioned in the USN and served as a carrier based Naval Aviator. He graduated from the Naval Postgraduate school with a Masters in Engineering and served in several technical, engineering related, jobs prior to his retirement from the USN in 1990.
Arch got his MDiv from Chesapeake Theological Seminary where he also taught a variety of courses but specialized in Biblical Greek. He served as President of the Seminary for several years. He also taught New Testament Studies and Biblical Greek at Faith Theological Seminary in Baltimore.
Arch’s life work was his service to Severn Run E. P. Church (PCA) in Millersville, Md. Where he was the founding pastor, pastor, and ultimately senior pastor, for 25 years. The congregation awarded him “pastor emeritus” status there when he retired. Since his retirement he has been active in mentoring young men, preaching in various churches and served as interim pastor to Inverness Presbyterian Church while they sought a pastor. He is currently serving in the same capacity at Liberty Presbyterian Church.
He and Judy have been married for 52 years and have four adult sons and 12 grandchildren
